On Friday I got all sentimental… and metaphorical and poetical… about the sun setting on another summer. I realize officially we have a few weeks left, but here we are the start of September (already!) and things are starting to feel a bit different.
To mark the start of September, one of our maple trees has already started turning red.
So far, the change does seem to be limited to the one tree.
I think it’s coming, people. Yes, it’s the f-word (not that one!), soon to be followed by the big W.
Are you ready?

I have noticed a big difference with the birds. With the exception of a few loud jays they have all gone. I no longer wake up each morning to their chatter. ahh …. Fall seems to be early.
Now that you mention it, our crows aren’t up any more at 5:30 a.m. They’re still around, but they seem to be waiting until the sun’s up before they start cawing now.
Still summer here, unfortunately. The oaks have defoliated but only because of the hot hot weather and lack of rainfall last year. I am so ready for fall! I love the color showing on your tree.
Fall seems early here, and I was wondering if this tree was changing colours in part because we had a lack of rain here too.
The colour is gorgeous. I actually love fall. I love the crispness of the air, the deep blue skies and fall colours. Bring it on!
I love fall, but at the same time I never really feel ready fro summer to end.
