Why yes. This is a big fuzzy bumblebee basically taking a bath in peony pollen.

Winter sunset over the farm

A rare sight this winter–sunset. Fittingly, this pink sky shone over the farm on Valentine’s Day.

Happy weekend, to you.

Rosehips

The rosehips on the bushes around the barn are as beautiful as the blooms were all summer.

Fall leaves on a wood bench

A big wind and a big rain brought down pretty much the rest of the leaves. Then this week, temperatures rose to record highs.

While Mother Nature figures out what season it is, I’m admiring the colourful leaves on the weathered bench that sits on the turnaround.

Combine cutting grain

The field across the road has been in grain this year for the first time since we moved to the farm. Saturday, a combine was hard at work harvesting the crop.

Baby pepper and a pepper blossom growing in the garden.

The pepper plants are not doing so hot so far. Hopefully this baby grows up.

Life on #129acres

Did you know we have an indoor pool? But not for much longer. We're building a garage, and it's going in the pool. I am so excited.
Nine years ago today, this farm became ours. Nine years ago, I started to live one of my dreams. It’s been a pretty amazing opportunity.
I’m almost a week late which feels about right since that’s approximately how long the celebrations have lasted. Happy 3rd birthday to our girl. A caring, sensitive, inquisitive, helpful, bright little girl. The best partner I could ask for.
Just a girl and her cat puzzling in a sunbeam. ❤️ This picture is brought to you by our new patio door. After we demolished the sunroom last fall, we got great natural light in the living room. But we also got more drafts through the old sliding door. I'm sharing the story of replacing the door on the blog this week (link in my profile).
This weekend. Climbing trees (and kicking off boots). Hanging ice art. Sleigh rides. Checking the pond ice. Drawing pictures in the snow. Investigating cattails. And even lunch outside. We spent 38 1/2 hours outside in January. I wouldn’t have thought to eat lunch outside in January but we did it twice this month. #1000hoursoutside is motivating me and inspiring me to find more ways to get outside with our girl, and we’re having so many amazing experiences together.
Happy last week of January... already. We joined the #1000hoursoutside challenge at the start of this year, and it's been so motivating. It's made me much more conscious of how we spend our time, and we've also had a lot of fun.
